Pearly’s Restaurant was founded in 1993 by Jan Warmerdam. Jan came to Langebaan to retire, however his entrepreneurial spirit was stirred by a small beach cafe called Franel’s.

An astute businessman of great charm, charisma and generosity, he formed friendships with and engendered loyalty in people whose lives he touched and was a mentor and role-model to many.

The stories of Jan’s life and his exploits as a bank clerk, insurance salesman, bouncer, wrestler and restaurateur, particularly from the days of the Cattleman Steakhouse are legend amongst those who knew him.

Together with Marc, Jan transformed Franel’s into the Langebaan landmark known as Pearly’s. Late in 2004 Jan’s son David joined the fold.

Pearly’s is now being run by the ‘next generation’ of Warmerdams’ Marc & David.
